The New Sweater of Loveliness

I'm restarting the sweater of evilness, this time in the suggested yarn (King Cole Smooth DK) which feels pretty nice, in a lovely navy blue.

So far it's going so much better then the original. I have decided to knit the rib in the round and I am just completing the cable. I'm going to split when I reach the sleeve shaping but will continue knitting one row at a time to ensure it is all the same length.

I've done the cables every six rows rather than every 12 so they will be smaller and tighter.

The Big Day of Freezing

I've read about once a month cooking for a few years now and I've always been a little curious about the whole process but thought the recipes looked a little odd (I first came across it courtesy of the Dinner Diva on Flylady).

With my course, knitting and other hobbies as well as work I finally decided to give it a go in the hopes that having lots of lovely semi-ready made meals in the freezer would help give my diet a kick start as well as freeing up some hours in the week.

I decided to start simple with the following meals:

  • Bolognese Sauce
  • Chilli Con Carne
  • Pork and Apple Meatloaf
  • Meatballs
  • Lamb and Mint Burgers
  • Lasagane
  • Apple Crumble
  • Apple Sauce
  • Gravy
  • Chicken Stock

The Sweater of Evilness

To be honest it's a little unfair calling this jumper evil. It was, after all, me who told Tracey it would be okay to use the King Cole Merino DK instead of the recommended yarn. It was me who carefully knit, washed and measured the swatch and it was me who, finally, took forever to finish it all the time thinking 'this is a little large' and assuming it would all come out fine in the wash.

Well it didn't. It was large, heavy and my already not-great finishing off looked even worse in the cold light of day.

The worst of it is that I'd loved this yarn when I'd first picked it and now I can't look at it without shivering slightly and remembering the hours upon hours of crazed knitting I'd put into it.
